Hartford Electric Staff - Sept 2022
Hartford Utilities maintains an electric distribution system that services more than 7,500 customers in the City of Hartford. The purpose of this distribution system is to "step down" the 138,000 volt power that is delivered to our substations via cross-state transmission lines from our power supplier, providing electricity to your home or business at the appropriate safe voltage.

Our electric utility staff is responsible for maintaining six substations with current capacity of over 172 megawatts and more than 350 miles of overhead and underground conductor. Over 1,750 transformers regulate the voltage measured by more than 7,500 meters used by our customers.
