Nights & Weekends Time of Use Rate

Customers have the option to apply for time of use rate option. This structure defines a peak time period for on-peak at which all consumption used is charged a higher cost than the regular rate. Likewise, all consumption not used on-peak is considered off-peak and all off-peak consumption is charged a significatnly lower cost than than the standard rate. The on-peak period is defined as Monday-Friday between 8am-8pm, excluding Saturday, Sunday, and holidays.

The Nights & Weekends Time of Use Rate requires a 12-month commitment, so it is imperative that a household can move at least 58% of total monthly consumption to the off-peak period. If not, they would be paying more premium on-peak costs and would be paying in total more than on the regular RG1 rate. If you are ready to consider making the switch complete our simple sign up form.

        Residential rates

The current regular residential rate (RG-1) is $0.1016 per kWh. The current time of use rates (RG-2) are $0.17 per kWh on-peak and $0.05 per kWh off-peak. At these rates, if your household can move 58% ot total usage (or more) to the off-peak period then Nights & Weekend Time of Use Rate would be a more beneficial rate. Power Cost Adjustment Clause (PCAC)

This is a variable component of our rates as approved by the PSCW. The Power Cost Adjustment Clause (PCAC) is a monthly pricing adjustment comparing actual purchased power costs to allocated costs as approved by the PSC. If actual costs are greater than the allocated, the result is an additional per-kilowatt hour charge on your bill. If actual costs are less than allocated, the result is a per-kilowatt hour credit on your bill. The PCAC assures you are only paying the actual costs associated with your actual consumption.

Summer Energy Rates

Energy costs more in the summer, in part because of increased air conditioning use, overall customer demand for electricity is at its highest in the summer months which can mean we pay more to purchase the energy resources we deliver to your home. This means your bill is likely to increase during this time of year. You also may notice the PCAC on your bill. Since the cost to generate or buy electricity fluctuates throughout the year, adjustments are made to reflect the true cost of power. Each month, base rates are collected representing the utility’s projected cost. The PCAC accommodates for these monthly fluctuations in power costs. And when it comes to the hot, summer months, weather and the demand for electricity plays a pivotal role.
