The Hartford Water Utility will be upgrading residential water meters in your neighborhood over the next few months as part of our advanced metering program. The new metering system will be read remotely and will allow our utility to continue providing superior customer service while operating more efficiently and effectively.
Since the meter is located in your basement, we need to set up an appointment for our Water Operator to access the meter. We anticipate that the entire meter replacement process will take less than an hour, and water service will be unavailable for approximately 15 minutes during the process. Please make sure the area around your water meter is accessible. While we are completing the meter exchange, we will also be completing a DNR mandated Residential Cross Connection Inspection.
Appointment times are available between 8:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Extended hours are available on Tuesdays between 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. To ensure your safety, our Water Operators will only arrive in a vehicle with a Hartford Utilities logo and will also wear a Utility issued identified badge – similar to the badges seen below.
